Phoenix to Flagstaff

We flew into Phoenix on a direct flight from Manchester, NH. Thanks Southwest!!

Phoenix is super hot - above 100° during the day.

Our goal is to get to elevation so we can start acclimating a bit for the hike. NH is less than 100 feet above sea level. Phoenix is about 1200 feet and Flagstaff is 6900 feet. The south rim of the Grand Canyon is 7000 above sea level on average.

Even though it takes about a month for the human body to fully acclimate to altitude, taking a few days to get used to being at this elevation should help us have a more enjoyable hike.
